After 90+ years, it's become clear to us at the Akron Urban League that a little heart and soul can take our communities a long way. Please join us for a night to recognize six women for their contributions to the community and help us to continue to empower the citizens of Summit County. Featuring special entertainment by Eddie Levert & opening act, Pastor Cathy Johnson.

About the Academy of Leaders Inductees:

The 2018 class of Academy of Leader's Inductees was selected from a competitive group of candidates. This year's inductees are:

About Eddie Levert Sr. 

Eddie Levert Sr. is one of the founders and lead singers of the legendary R&B group, The O’Jays.  Known for his raspy voice and sexy moves, Eddie has a range that takes him from alto to second tenor.  His style is full of emotion and deep passion.  To understand Eddie Levert, you can start with the journey of the O’Jays and keep going because there is much more.

Currently, Mr. Levert is performing as a solo artist.  He performs with Johnny Gill and Keith Sweat as the “LeVert” in LSG.  He also tours the world with the O’Jays and Gladys Knight. Eddie Levert, Sr. completed his debut solo CD album, “Eddie Levert: I Still Have It”, released in 2012.  He already released two singles, “Did I Make You Go Ooh” and “Shit Starter” from his sophomore CD album “Did I Make You Go Ooh” to be released in early 2016.
