Christopher Brown was promoted to Sr. Director of Facilities & Marketing in November of 2016 after more than five years of service to the Akron Urban League. He is responsible for agency marketing & communications efforts both online and in print, the overall operation of agency facilities. Additionally, he assists in various capacities on special events, agency and program budgeting and strategic planning.
Throughout his tenure at the Akron Urban League, Brown has served in various capacities including: working on a federally funded broadband adoption program that served over 6,000 Summit County, Ohio residents over a three-year period; directing an annual summer work experience program that serves approximately 500 low-income youth per year; and serving on various agency committees.
In addition to his work at the Akron Urban League, Brown is also involved with several community service programs and organizations. He is a member of the Kent State Alumni Association, BMe Akron and the West Akron Kiwanis. In 2012, he served the National Urban League project ‘Occupy the Vote’, a non-partisan voter registration drive that registered over 1,000 Summit County voters.
Brown graduated cum laude from Kent State University with a Bachelor of Arts in political science with a minor in history.
